    What a surprise

ok so yesterday i went to do my timing belt, waterpump, motor mounts, tranny mounts etc.. and finally swap what i thought was gonna be a stock chip for an ebay chip..but when i took the ecu out i look at it and tell someone has already been in it before..im thinking whatever maybe someone had something in there idk..so i continue cracking it open and to my very surprise there was a racing dynamics chip already in there..but either way i took it out and put the ebay chip in and it throws a CEL so i swapped them back around..i think ill keep the RD chip in there..Bad thing is ive been running 89 on a 91 octane chip..so i went and filled up with 93 and really noticed a big difference in response..after the i got the gas and everything was put back together..i went for a good drive and i gotta say it was alot beter and felt refreshend.ohh and it was a bitch trying to get all the air out of the coolant..

I found a stock chip in my glove box, and my car is really down on power running 87. I should check too! Maybe the PO installed a chip without letting me know and kept the stocker just in case

my mt2 came with a 173 dme and it has been opened up, so i am pretty sure it is chipped as well. i have not taken it apart though. it came with a cone filter and after market exhaust with no cat. i went back with stock on those items and it doesn't have the power it used to. i had an 89 325is that came with a chip too. i had a lot of problems with that car. i don't think it was related to the chip, but i ended up pulling that ecu and swapping it with a stock one.

the cooling syst is really easy to bleed. on the thermostat housing there is a bleeder screw(late models) or a plug (earlier style). just unscrew that, pour coolant in the reservoir, start the engine and let it run until coolant starts flowing out that screw. you may have to do it a couple times to get the air out.

the bently is your best friend. you and everyone with one of these cars should have one.

I wouldn't doubt mine has one, she's been around. I've always used 91, but I am always surprised about the power the M42 for a four-cylinder.

Would running BP Ultimate 98 do anything for my stock 318i, as opposed to 91? Just curious. I work at BP so i wonder every day.
