Buying an E30 tomorrow....you guys choose for me.

Which is the better deal? I can always m50 swap the sedan.

    Option A:

Super clean. Super slow. Good for a swap. 1200 US dollars.

    Option B:

Super clean. Much more fun. Lots of mods. Gas is very expensive here in Europe. 5000 US dollars.

The idle on the second car is way out of wack! Should be around 600 rmps @ idle.

He explains that the car is dead cold and drops to 1000 when warm.

Dont feel like watching the video and get yelled at at work, but you can do a lot for 3.2k. I would just get the first clean, low miles e30. Sell off the interior/engine/parts you do not want, swap an s50 and call it your own

Yeah but it's a carbed 1.6 Yugoslavian zero option car. The parts are worthless. 70 horsepower turd.

I've looked. I already own a Skoda. Close enough right?

I used to own a very clean E30 a few years ago and miss it badly.

What would these cars be worth in the states? The silver car looks like a smoking deal. The pics don't do it justice. It's an 8.5 out of ten.

The coupe is a 9 out of 10 and runs great with tons of recent maintenance.

Even dead cold the car shouldn't idle at 1500 rpm... That's fishy

I vote the 316i. Option-less base model means light as they come (for late models) and should make a really fun S5x swap car. The second one is asking too much $$$ for not looking any cleaner than the first.

Also, random but does it bother anyone else when someone makes a vid/takes pictures of a car they're selling and the reserve light for the fuel tank is on? Comes off as lazy lack of care to me...

I'd go for the second car.
Either of those bodies would be like gold here in salt-on-the-road North America.

My '86 320i came from Yugoslavia. It has a L-jet system that idles above 1500 for about a year and a half and slows gradually until warm idle at 900. That's still too high, probably a vacuum leak but cold idle at 1500 or so is I think normal for L-jet.
Trouble is, under the hood that second car looks like a much later Motronic. Something fishy there.
I'm told the carbed E30s are very bad.
Go for the second car, instant fun.

I wouldn't buy the second for more than 3k. If the first one was a coupe I'd jump on it and swap it with an s5x

I would buy the first one... I like buying cars that are as stock as possible. That way there is no wondering what the previous owner did when he installed some sketchy aftermarket parts. Everything is, for the most part, the same as it was when it left the factory. Much easier to work on. But it's entirely up to you!
