Pics aren't the best but I would be closer to 1500-1800. More info and better pics needed

Hard to tell by the pics but I would say no. You can get an unmodified 325i or is for that type of money.

Everyone is going to tell you this but proper e30 buying is about patience.

check for rust under the battery in the truck, lift the carpet and look for holes, the u mostly likely cant see from the bottom. check all the electrical, turn signals, brights brake lights. look for what the PO has monkeyed with.

you many not know, but the eta is a 2.7L low reving slower car. good on MPG but second to last place, only by the early 318i. usually parts are cheap and people are always giving eta parts away.
the good, since it is a low wind motor, they run to like 300k w/o issue and with a little work can make it to 600k.
if rust walk away. if wiring has been messed with, walk away.
        else, 2k is fair
        Much wow

Rust, bad interior, or major problems with engine/tranny are about the only things that would scare me from paying 2k for that car. Anything else is pretty easily fixed.
Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.

                  It's an E so I would pass. I would buy a late model 325i/318i.

How much rust do you mean by "some"?

^^Yea exactly. I bet the owner doesn't even know how much rust the car really has.

I say it looks good, new fog lights and clean front. Every E30 needs some type of touch up. I just bought and 1991 E30 318is last month and the only thing that was wrong was that there was rust on the exhaust pipe. Just another spot to check at.
