check for rust under the battery in the truck, lift the carpet and look for holes, the u mostly likely cant see from the bottom. check all the electrical, turn signals, brights brake lights. look for what the PO has monkeyed with.
you many not know, but the eta is a 2.7L low reving slower car. good on MPG but second to last place, only by the early 318i. usually parts are cheap and people are always giving eta parts away.
the good, since it is a low wind motor, they run to like 300k w/o issue and with a little work can make it to 600k.
if rust walk away. if wiring has been messed with, walk away.

Rust, bad interior, or major problems with engine/tranny are about the only things that would scare me from paying 2k for that car. Anything else is pretty easily fixed.Haven't you ever seen Russian Nesting Dolls? They work like that.
