can you erase P.O. parking tickets for my registration??????

hey guys, came across a nice is... thats to cheap to even say. problem is it has a lot in back parking tickets. now its a great deal if i get it without all bs tickets on it... my question is if anyone knows of anyway around it. I remember someone a while back saying it was possible but not sure how. i already called the courthouse and the dmv to no avail. hoping someone here knows the magic loophole. thanks in advance guys

That's shitty. Tell the dude you'll go with him to the courthouse and pay the fees out of what you're giving him for the car.

You guys either have a strange ticketing system in CA or I'm very out of the loop.

The tickets stay with the owner ,they dont follow the car. Do yourself a favor and get new plates ($17) just in case you are parked and DMV hasn't made the switch in their system.

If you are still feeling uneasy just call AAA and sign it over on the spot. They will let you know exactly what is owed and hand you the registration.

Parking tickets stay with the car, not the owner. They are placed as a lien against the registration.

It is the car that takes up the parking space, but since the car has no money and no feeling, the owner would have to cough up $$$ for the tickets...just like parents are responsible for their kids.

I recently registered a car that had parking tickets on it in the city of los angeles and paid nothing but the sales tax and fees. The lady behind the counter went as far as to say that the po had close to 600 dollars in tickets and that maybe I should get new plates but that's it.

Call AAA and talk to the dmv department, they will set you straight.

                      Deborah K. says:
You just need to submit to the DMV paperwork confirming non-ownership of the vehicle at the time the tickets were accrued. Their records should indicate who got the tickets.

I sold a car with tickets on it, and was still responsible. I was unable to renew my license without paying the tickets.
On the flip side, that same car GOT tickets after I sold it, and by showing the bill of sale I was able to confirm I wasn't responsible for the new tickets that the new owner got.

In fact, I think there's a little form you can fill out on the back of the letter you get informing you of the ticket, where you can claim you didn't own the car at the time.

Is it because the weather is so nice down there that everything else is just stupid?

In WA, when you buy/sell a car, the date of sale determines who gets the tickets-
if you bought it after it got tickets, they're the problem of the PO.
If you don't do the paperwork properly, tho, you're on the hook.

yes, but the problem can come in when you sell a car and the new owner just drives it around without registering it.
