    3m Di-NOC

Anyone thought about or have done a dash with this stuff. Starting to get some cracks on my dash and looking for some alternatives. Looking for the pro's and con's on using it for the entire dash.

I doubt it will work on a dash since its not perfectly smooth, it will most likely start to peel

There is a prep primer that is supposed to be used with it. And people are getting good results with it, including crazy angles.

try headlightarmor.com, they have some pretty decent materials. Might be another option without having to use the primer.

I would imagine it could work, but not sure that it would look good.
Kamotors has messed with vinyl alot, you could ask him

the prep primer is adheasion promoter. You would really have to get that dash clean for it to stick well to it. Also you would have to get all the cracks filled and perfectly smooth for them not to show up under the di-noc.

I've been pondering putting a layer of glaze coat over my whole dash. Its the stuff people put on top of bar tops that makes them look like glass. The stuff dries really really hard. I would then wrap the dash with some kind of vinyl like di-noc. I am not sure how this stuff would react with the dash material though

I can't see it being worth the effort when you can just replace the dash

vinyl wrap is usually pretty thin and will show any scratches or dings that were on the underneath surface so I dont think it would be worth it, dash cap would look good, or maybe an epoxy fill in the cracks and some flocking

I just used some to wrap my 135i steering wheel trim. Heat it up with a hair dryer and it gets crazy soft and can be conformed to almost ANY angle. Looks good when its all done. Takes some time to get used to working with it. Threw a light clear coat on it when i was done. Good to go!

Why in the world would you clearcoat vinyl?

Lol it was more of a flat black finish and some clear coat helped it match the steering wheel and the rest of the car better.

Before; peeling at the top and corners

You would have to degrease and clean the dash REALLY well.
Problem is that since the dash is slightly soft, it'll be very prone to damage by anything with sharpish edges, fingernails, etc. In the summer, any concave parts that didn't adhere will shrink and lift. In below freezing temps, the vinyl will tend to be very brittle and again prone to damage.
I agree its not worth the trouble.

+1 Great for small things like what i used it for, but a whole entire dash? Idk if i would do it.
