    Hard top refinishing..any good shop?

Does anyone know of a good shop in the NY area that can restore the vinyl on hardtops. I have a hardtop that has a few spots needing attention..well going by my OCD that is. I am restomodding the vert and this has to be on par with the rest of the car when finished.

Maynotbehelpful, but if you're restomodding, have you considered painting gloss or flat black instead? Mine is painted gloss black and it looks way better than the vinyl did.

+1 for removing the vinyl. make sure you prime and sand the surface a lot, maybe even with a filler. it's not a smooth surface at all.

I promise you painting it will be more expensive than recovering it.
we did one for a m3 cabrio replica dn it was about 15 hours of labor to get it nice and straight + materials + paint + buffing

Yup, there are a bazillion pinholes that can't be covered with filler primer.

Lots of work, and then you risk scratching it every time you remove or replace it.

I thought long and hard about color matching or flat black, but I have taken the time to secure key period correct mods and options that I want to keep the originality of the hardtop to match the period correctness of the project..not to mention the first time I mentioned color matching to the shop doing the restoration, the body guy cringed and the owner immediately started swaying me against it.
