    Stripping

Hi R3v, now that I've got your attention...

I might be picking up a set of M-Pars for the E34 tomorrow for really cheap.

One problem. They're chrome. I hate chrome. :hitler:

Anybody know of a safe DIY method for stripping chrome without intense sanding, using crazy acids, or media blasting. Like, is there anything else I can use acetone, oven cleaner, brake cleaner?

I wouldn't count on it. Why are you opposed to using methods that work?

If they are chromed, not painted, only sand blasting and painting will work. The sand blasting isn't to remove the chrome by rather to give the surface enough roughness for paint to adhere.

Well I guess you could have the powder coated...
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I looked into it for my M-Pars. They're chrome as well. As far as I've researched, there's no cheap/easy way to do it and that it's best to take them to a professional. Personally, it wasn't worth the money, and they've actually grown on me just the way they are.

I'd prefer to work smart rather than hard. Of course, if there is an easy way to do it and still yield quality results.

Car would have to be clean and quite low for this to work.

Chrome M-pars would have been dreamy on my 95 D/V M5.

                      Miss that poor car :(

Schwarz would pull it off better.
