      They were not common in Northern Japan. The ones I did see were Tech II 320i and were automatics. Autos in Japan were very common.

      Court do you see any Mini Cooper Clubman like this? I debate getting another fun car but would do a Honda Vtec drivetrain in it.

          Thinking that might be next fun car, I had one for 5 months while I was at Misawa with a honda engine and it was fun.

                I dont' blame the OP for going with an FRS. It's the modern-day equivalent to the e30! (but safer and more fuel efficient ;))

                  Greg Did you ever see this one we drove out to CT>>??? Had a saab V6 stuffed in it. about 220hp. it was ridiculous. torque steer would pull you right into a ditch if you wernt on top of it
