A/c broke in the rain this morning.

I live in NE Florida and thus morning we are being visited by tropical storm Andrea. Well about 2 minutes into my morning commute my a/c and fan just died. I went to turn it up to setting 3 and as soon as I did, the fan died and the lights for the a/c and recirculation went out. Fantastic. And of course I drive a vert, and my roof hasn't had a leak unless it was a down pour. Well sitting in traffic in a tropical storm made it leak all over my lap.... Double fantastic. So, needless to say, awesome commute this morning.

What do you guys think the a/c and fan problem is?

I was thinking the resistor. I looked at the fuses under the hood and they all seemed to be OK. Are the resistors easy to find locally?

It sounds like fuse 20 has blown.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Just went on break and checked the #20 fuse. Sure enough it was blown. Stole #28 since they since they are the same amp. My a/c switch lights came. I tried running my my fan through the speed 1/2/3 got nothing. When Iput it on 4, blew the fuse.

My thought is bad resistor in blower motor causing to overload the fuse. Of ocurse I could be wrong. Thoughts?

The resistor only affects the first three speeds. It is bypassed for speed 4. While the resistor could be bad, the fuse blowing in speed 4 suggests a shorted blower motor or one that is mechanically jammed.

Sounds like there might be a short in the blower motor which has burned out resistors 1,2, and 3 and since 4 is just an open switch it blows the main fuse.

i feel your pain, we have the exact same car and the same shit happens to me. I just dont use the A/C unless im cruising at a steady speed cause its causes the idle to rev high with the clutch in.
