Ok. Cover is off. How freely should the blades (cages) move? I can move them by hand but they take a tad bit of force. Should they feel "loose"?

OK. Pulled the the motor and resistor. Cleaned both with electronic cleaner. Hit the connections with a dremel. Put some WD on the cage shaft. Reinstalled. 1&2 didn't work but 3 would. Ok, 3 is better than nothing. Took it for a drive. if i backed down from 3, 2 and 1 would work. Then I got the bright Idea to try 4. Blew the fuse. Swapped fuse and 1/2/3 doesn't work. Ideas?

The motor is bad. Don't try to run on anything lower than 4 as you'll end up blowing the resister.
My blower motor did the same thing from too much moisture and crud in there. Order up a new one. Carefully remove the fans since they can be re-used...

After cleaning and replacing the fuse it seems to be working. I used it all day today with no problem. I haven't put it on 4 yet but hey, until i can dig up the scratch for a new motor, I'll take it

That's good. Probably the years of dust, dirt, water, repeat, had did it's toll.
