Comment on CruiseCam Camera Mount...and others?

    Hey guys,

I'm thinking of buying a CruiseCam Camera Mount (http://www.chasecam.com/cruisecam/index.html) - the one that mounts to the passenger seat on the headrest bars.

For those that have one that mounts to the seats, you don't notice any excess vibration when reviewing your video, do you?

I've been thinking of making my own that mounts, say, to the seat bolts or some pre-existing holes inside the car somewhere, but they are just ideas.

If something that moutns to a headrest would work well enough, I'd do it. I'm just worried that with a 15 year old seat, a little bit of give, and a passneger, the video may be a little wiggly.

    Comments welcome.

    Thanks! :)

Ely (rs4pro3) has one and he posted a video a while back that he made.

      Looked pretty good.

I have been thinking about getting one.

The only 2 in-car videos I have posted have been on the chasecam/cruisecam. Seems to be good value for money.

no prob, that's the only video I've taken, if you search for more videos from use on goole, I think there are 3 or 4 from that same. Day I still don't have a camera of my own so I don't get much use of it.

I bought a window mount jobber, and it's pretty cool, but the vids I've taken with it are boring. Alecs and I went for a drive one day, and we hit the twisties pretty hard, but on the video you just can't get a sense for how fast we were going.

Anybody have any tips on how to make the vids better, more exciting?

can you mount a digital camera or does it have to be a camcorder?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Any camera with a standard tripod screw hole will mount to it. So yes, you can use a digital camera.

I think the only way to truely get the feeling of speed is to have multiple camera angles, and even some outside the car. Course, for this, you need multiple cameras, and almost a movie set setup.

On a budget, and in our case, I think if you mounted it on the roof, it might show a good shot.

Personally, I want something just so I can view later, and if it works to mount to the headrest, I'm game! :)

someone on another boards (bf.c) talked about how the video was entertaining and funny looking back later, but after a while just got boring.

i thought i would buy a camcorder and mount this year, but since then have second-guessed it. i mean... what's the point? to flaunt it on the internet? they are generally boring anyway. You could have people critique you, but would be better to have someone in the car with you....

and p.s. a window mount sticky-pod or otherwise isn't necessarily track allowed. they made a friend of mine remove his

in the end, a cheap good camera (~$300) and a mount (~$40) would be the cost of a track weekend. if you have one already, maybe....

I have the camera, just not the mount.

I think it would be interesting to see any progression made over the runs. Of course, if you see or get into any wrecks, it might make for amusement. (Charlie, where is that Turn 9 footage!)

Its the closest thing I have to telemetry data. I already have the camera for homemade porn so the mount was my only real expense. At the DEs they stop riding as a rule for after group 2 and will only ride upon request because we get enough students that instructors are in demand. And at local autocrosses there arent instructors. This way I have a record of where I made a misstake; be it in car control, revs, gear, ect...

I place the camera so you can just see the horizon but see the cluster and stick.
