    New to r3v, e30's..

Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm going to be looking to buy an eta sometime within the next few months to have as a college/city daily driver, but I'll try to edumacate myself some on e30's by perusing the boards here first.. I've already met/known a couple guys here (Morgan and Eric, some others).. Yeah, glad to be here :P

Welcome. An ETA would be a great commuter car for a college student.

So, did Morgan tell you to be prepared for an ass raping?

j/k - welcome aboard. And you know how your teachers always told you that there is no such thing as a stupid question? Well, I am here to tell you that at r3v, that just isn;t true.

Ask a stupid question, and we'll let you know just how stupid it is.

      Search tool is your friend.

And why on earth do you want an eta?

Haha, i want an eta cause its fuel efficient. I'm not looking for an e30 to be a performance machine (not yet anyways).. And yes, I know that in the world of non-homosexual message boards, there are many very very stupid questions that deserve ass raping :P Search tool is indeed my friend

why not get 318is? It doesn't have that much torque, but more hp... plus it looks better, and you could prolly find with less miles then eta

How do prices compare? I had thought that eta's were the cheapest e30's you could get.. Thats important to me :P

Yeah, go with an eta. You won't have to wring it out like you would a 318is. Welcome BTW.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

Just get a 325i, eta guys want them and 318iS guys want them but they won't admit it. All E30's get more or less the same gas mileage.

Woah, the last thing I want is more horsepower...

                            NOT true I have had a ETA, 325iS' and a 318 w/ m42 and I'd choose the m42 over the rest. I'm sure 4:27 gearing really helps ;)

Like I said.. cost is definitely a factor.. When I start seriously looking, it'll be for something $2.5k-ish or less, and I want something thats already in reasonable shape, with reasonably low mileage.

Honestly, it'd be really nice to find something below two grand thats just a diamond in the rough.. ya know, needs some work that most people aren't comfortable doing, but isn't really that difficult to bring up to par with some TLC and knowledge..

From what I've seen, the only 325's that go for less than $2500 aren't really that great... I mean, I'll keep my eye open for any and all e30's that are a good deal and within my budget, but yeah, cost is definitely the main factor here in my decision.

I think the most reasonable would be a 325e or a 318iS. Thanks for the input guys.
