This. The logical choice would have been to call the one with four doors the M4.

I blame emissions standards and all these regulations that the car industry has to deal with.

        I wouldn't be surprised that after the F80 M3/M4 we'll see a 4-cylinder turbo like the CLA 45.

          Whatever *rolleyes*

Problem is, as time goes on, I'm liking BMW less and less. Cars from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s personify what BMW is really about. At least that's my opinion.

I could not agree more with this statement. BMW lost its way, it was once a driver's car, now its just a bunch of over priced luxury car with more gimmicks then you would know what to do with.

When will the current 1 series end production? That's a new BMW that I really like yet, the 2 series that's going to replace it looks alright, too.

The name doesn't matter, either way it will be a great car that will eventually be driven off cliffs in Arizona

A series of terrible ideas from Bangel initially (or so it seems), but then it became what the North American buyers wanted ultimately (more elbow room to accomodae larger waist sizes, more cup holders etc.).

Now its' all about diversifying and offering as many "individualized" cars as possible, to match any number of buyers' wants. Like I said before, BMW is quickly losing it's ways, and just like GM had to do over the last 10-15 years when it dumped the Pontiac, Saturn, Oldsmobile etc. lineups, to quit LOSING money.

It will happen folks. Sure BMW may have been something once, but everything changes ultimately.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

This ^^^. ...and I LMAO when I think of individuals I know who have marquee brand logos tattooed on themselves. I need to de-badge this e34 I recently picked up... it's basically just a fat e30. An era long gone.

Time will tell, but I don't see an F30 being a "classic" BMW. The way things are going, the M4 will be a RWD Audi.

The Ms are little more than an ego stroke for owners to personalize with vestigial carbon fiber doodads and $7500 BBS wheels. They won't see a heat cycle on their tires.

I don't care a bit about what BMW does these days. They produce ugly (like everyone else) cars that are absolutely boring to look at, heavy, and do not elicit any sort of excitement whatsoever. The only thing I care about is that they continue to stock parts for the older stuff.

You don't like any car produced after 1974, lol.

But I disgress, I don't care for anything BMW is making these days.
