    Sell E30, fund E34 Touring?

Hi I have a 318is slicktop that I love dearly. She has her fair share of body damage but she takes care of me, 20,000 miles since last July and never skipped a beat. Never lets me down, handles great. Real fast around twisties and competetive in the auto-x class it's in. 33mpg highway, A/C, its a nice ride.
I bought an E34 Touring out of impulse in the beginning of the summer, it's in mint condition. 525i Auto. Touring style makes it really cool and usable. Also not too many around.
Working on it today, it really had me thinking, I really like the E34. My lease is up with a garage I'm renting for the summer in about 7 weeks and I'm going to have to get rid of it because I can't keep it when I'm in school.
Really had me thinking though, I've only had E30's since I've began driving, and maybe it's time for a change?
The only way I would want the E34 though would be if it had a S52/ZF 5SPD in it, and the suspension was modified to be comparable to that of my current E30. My E30 grips real well, and I'd love if the E34 could do that as well.
So I'm at crossroads, do I sell my E30, a car that has been proven to me, to fund this E34 project? I've done plenty of 24V swaps on a E30, and aside from the OBD, the S52 is a drop in for the E34. There aren't plenty of E34 touring around, and this one is in solid condition. There are plenty of E30's around, and as long as the market doesn't get even crazier than it is now, I can afford one in the distant future.
    WWRD? (What would r3v do?)

it will never be the same as the E30. find a way to keep both if you want the E34

Nilsson - strangely enough, i had similar thoughts yesterday afternoon in my neighborhood.
I saw a silver e34 wagon with a cool custom rack on top and 8-series weaves.
it looked like it was a parts delivery car for a local bimmer shop, bavarian professionals.

anyhow, it looked REALLY nice lowered. I LOVE wagons.
You should post some photos of your car up so we can see whatcha workin with.

I adore mine! Its an absolute blast to drive and is very practical.

That being said, I still have my E30 Mtech1 and E30 Touring for street cars. E34's are great, but they are porky, and really without an M60 or S38 I would not enjoy them nearly as much.

Expand your horizons and keep the e34 touring. I wish I'd got one instead of my e36.

Since you start by saying you love your e30 dearly, I'd advise against talking yourself into the e34 just for the sake of change. Is there no way to keep both? Maybe you can't keep both at school, but surely there's another way?

I sold my e30 for an e34 M5 and regretted it as the "feel" of the e34 is not the same at all. I upgraded the e34 suspension to GC coilovers and all new parts and the car drove great, but the steering box vs. steering rack removed the gokart fun on the e30.

Owned the e34 for 8 months and sold it to get the e30 I have now.

I'm sorta in a similar situation. Was able to get an '99 e39 528i sport touring that I've come to love having. Have always wanted a lowered wagon. At one point I was tempted to sell the e30 and use the money for the touring but after talking it over with my dad to get his thought, he told me to keep them both, so I will. If it means the e30 makeover goes slower, so be it. I would've regretted selling it.

I agree to find a way to keep it if possible. You'll find that you will definitely love it albeit in a different way than your e30. Keep it at a friend place, parents place, etc. Do what you can. Nice older tourings don't come up too often

Here she is. Full sport suspension, style 5's, m-tech wheel and euro tails:

If at all possible keep the Touring and the E30.

If its just not possible, sell the Touring. I've had both and the Touring will never handle or be as fun as the E30. With an S52 the car will be fun but it's soo big you won't be able to toss it around. If you autocross you will find yourself in another E30 anyway.

The E30 market will continue to raise in price so if yours is clean, seriously, keep it.

At the end of the day (in my situation) it just made sense to buy an E36 M3. Something to think about also. Of course that hasn't stopped me from dropping the M50nv from my dead E34 Touring into an E30 shell, but you hopefully get the point.

Its a hard choice. Good luck.

I wonder if there is a way to retrofit a E30/E36 rack into the E34? Never been under an E34 so I don't know... pardon me if that is a common question
