    Manual window conversion help

    88 325is

My drivers power window keeps popping the fuse and I have replaced the window motor, switches, and harness. I give up.

What do I need to do to convert to a manual window? Do I need different glass?
Any help would be appreciated. I searched without any clear answers.

You need the regulators off an 84-85 manual window car. And if you don't have a acces hole for them you would have to swap door cards or cut the holes your self as late models didn't come with them

I believe that's all you need but I haven't done it personally I do know I'd like to at some point and tracking down the manual regulators isn't getting any easier

yes, I have done it. As long as you have early model windows, manual regulators are plug and play.

I wish I could find a nice set of manual regulators for a 4 door car in good shape. Nearly impossible to find.

If your late 88 has scissor style regulators, I believe you need to get early model glass to go with early model regulators. I don't know if there is such thing as late model manual regulators unless Europe still considered power an option that late.

My car is a steel bumper 88 but it has scissor window lifts so I need the entire mechanism and glass I suppose.

I have a door from an 88 and it still has the early style regulators? Running the VIN verified it as an 88 model year.

I think the switch from early to late is 8/87 build date.

I did the manual crank conversion on my car with late model window glass. Made an "L" or hockey-stick-shaped bracket to convert the glass to bolt to the regulators. Took prob 2 hours.

                          Newer style glass AND regulators?
