Do other countries have domestic market changes

do other countries have specific changes that have to be made to foreign vehicles to be sold in that market?
for example in the us we have USDM, we have side markers, we have US grilles etc.. etc.. do other countries have this? ( besides the obvious eruro, jdm)

I know on Firebirds they changed the mirrors, the rear bumper, tail lights, and added marker lights, side repeaters,

        US,

        Euro,
note the amber in the tail lights, reflectors in bumper and enlarged plate area

Canada also requires the odo have kph and and a mfg letter confirming all recalls are done. When my brother took hgis Harley to France he had to change all the lamps and muffler. PArets were $1200 but the local dealer rented them to him for $100 for his inspection ;-)

Within the US, there was the M56B25 SULEV engine built to be sold in four US states. I wouldn't have bothered wasting my time if I was BMW.

What a pile of crap those cars are:

Those four states may as well be their own countries....

                Yes..

In Finland I've done quite a lot of conversion work to American cars brand new to old.. and the things that need to be done are all pretty much more or less stupid as shit...

These are things I can think of atm that needs to be done to cars '96 and later

-the car have to have yellow turn signals on the side (the red arrow in Tahoes side mirrors for example are no good)
-the back turn signals have to be yellow, not red
-the park lights in the front can not be yellow, (as the blinkers)
-newer Chevy Express Explorers have their fog lights to close to the center so those have to be removed,
-these numbers might be off by a little as memory fails me but if the car is over 6 meters it has to have yellow indicator lights along the sides; 1 every 1½m
-Chevy Express have their back number plate on the right door that goes to the luggage compartment, the plate HAVE to be in the middle or... on the left door..
-And my personal favorite, the Internationally known "most important light", the car have to have a back fog light!

I believe it's from '69 and earlier that none of that applies to, so you can drive them as intended from factory.. and after that there where stuff that needed to be changed/modified..

These things only apply if you have something registered as a "truck", like the several 2012 Express Explorer and Escalade Platinums I worked on, but also for Ford F-350's etc.

-6 hooks in the back, 3 on each side, so that you can strap down your "luggage" and btw the luggage compartment in the Escalade and Express are like less than 1 meter deep with all the seats in the car so it looks quite ridiculous to have 6 hooks like you ever could even fit something in there that would require that >.<
                - also you have to have a "fence" in lack of better words, right behind the last seats so that your "luggage" don't come crashing forwards..
                - and they also have to have a speed limiter set to ~90 km/h

french headlights weren'T ever a must have as far as I know.

And yes, All of the EU has pretty much the same as Finland for "euro specs" there are a bunch of other small things I had to change on my old C1500 when I changed it over to "euro" plates.
separate fuses for each side brake light.
                    ZERO side reflectors
chassis number stamped into the frame
adjustable headlights on all cars after 1991
E approved headlights lights with E approved reflectors in the rear.

there's even more that i'm forgetting.

Nothing of what I made and none of those what I am aware of where "exported" from America to be sold here, so the cars that do exist are imported and then converted by some company or hillbilly.. but the looks don't change that much, as for the lights it depends on how you do it, as there is no one way how to do it (altho' regulations exist) and anyone is allowed to do it and I don't work for a company that solely does conversions either, just a lot of those cars end up where I work , there only need to be a document proving that there is a speed limiter, which must be by a specific person who expertise in that area, and also a document saying that the "fence" in the back is properly made..

I can't post pics from this site, it's the biggest market place to sell your car over here http://www.nettiauto.com/cadillac/escalade/5712240

I haven't made that myself but it looks pretty typical to how a-lot of cars are made.. the turn signals are hanging under the side-view mirrors and what is originally reverse light is made in to turn signals, what is originally brake and turns is just brake, then there's the red fog light hanging under the bumper plus a reverse on the right side...

On those older models tho' you can just put in a LED light that shines both yellow and red where the brake/turn light is and that way only have to put the fog under the bumper..

Alot of customers want the cars back to stock after inspection btw so I often make new connectors in the back for "inspection and regular driving mode" , the turn signals stay on with double-sided tape and the fog on hinges so that it tucks under the bumper

..I think I managed to get that pretty short xd
