Having grown up in Cedar Rapids, I can attest to the kindness of Iowans. Best people you'll find anywhere.

Too bad it's so boring there. ;)

Got a nice 3k miler coming up here myself. Cool story man, sounds like a fun trip.

I'll be doing mine in reverse, NH to Wyoming.

I thought I was daring to drive a newly-aquired e30 500 miles the day after purchase with no inspection/work done whatsoever.

                  But 2500?

What a great story! I know how frustrating that must have been during the experience, but I'm sure that helped you and the car bond quite nicely. Each of my e30s were purchased in California and driven to Memphis, TN. Most recently, in July, record-setting temperatures, in the desert, with no a/c. I can certainly feel your pain on the heat situation. Luckily, I did not have the issues on my road trip that you had on yours. The last car I bought, I ended up working on in NV for about 3 weeks + to get timing belt and water pump done, radiator done, hoses replaced, transmission work done, etc before leaving for my trip. One problem after another during the "work", but once we hit the road, it was easy sailing! :-)

Love how everyone pulled together to help you and your car make it safely home. Thank you for sharing! Like someone else said, stories like that restore my faith in humanity!

I currently live in Mississauga near square one. The arrival picture was taken in North York. I used to live in the orchard in Burlington.

Iowa pulls through again. Dodge St Tire in IC hooked me up many a time, great people.

Quite the story, thanks for sharing.
