I'm with slammin. Hope you bought it... It'll take some blood and sweat but it has potential.

that'll clean up nicely. probably a $2K car all said and done with maintenance, cleaning, tags/title/registration.

It blows my mind what some of you guys would part out. Come to the Southeast, as our harsh climate makes ten year old vehicles look worse than this.

I think ,OP, that you have your answer.

Sorry guys, had a busy day. I'm going to make the deal soon, however logistics for me are still a problem. The car is about a 2 hour drive away, depending on traffic. Should I tow or u haul trailer it? If I'm lucky he'd let me spend a day doing the repairs in his driveway and I could drive it back. I know him well.

By the way, my plans for it would be to make it a cross between a track car/daily driver.

I'm all for saving old BMWs, but it will definitely cost you more than $120 to get it running right. If you have the space, I would buy it, part it out and use that money to buy something better. Those rims alone will recoup a lot of the cost.
omg really?!?!?! This car has a ton of potential.

Duhh its worth it.. Whether or not you want to fix it up.. Personally, I would do a quick part out and pocket and easy at least 6 digits.

Buy it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how easy it cleans up.

If it was non-op'd I would buy it for sure. If not you may have a BIG bill waiting for you at the DMV. It still might be worth it if it wasnt non-op'd though

Body looks decent once cleaned. Hell even a decent cut and polish would breathe plenty of life into that old paint. Do it. Offer him $300, flush everything, replace what's needed and drive it.

They're wheels, not rims. And why the hell would you even think about parting out what appears to be a perfectly straight car?

Agent, lets not quibble over syntax. It's obviously worth saving if you have the money to do so. But if he was super strapped for cash, parting it would enable him to get a better car. I'm sure most of us have seen cars parted in arguably "more saveable" condition. It's a simple matter of using your resources in the most effective manner, sometimes this happens to trump BMW fanaticism.
