E46 M3 daily? Any other suggestions?
I recently picked up an e46 m3 to use as a strictly summer daily. I've been getting about 25 mpg highway and 19ish city (according to the comp - I'll calculate myself later). Granted I live in the suburbs not a metro area with heavy stop go traffic and my daily commute is less than 25 miles round trip.
If you do end up looking for an e46 m3. Find one that's been well maintained, like any bmw. I'd avoid that particular example tho. Why start with smg and high miles. Look around, they can be had with less miles and 6sp for under $11k. I found several over the time I searched for mine.
Also if your afraid of doing work yourself or random maintenance, it's not the car for you. It'll eat you alive. Look at the price of parts for brake changes, water pumps or how much it'll cost for a valve adjustment then decide if you can afford it.
Here's mine btw. Honestly one of the most fun cars I've ever drove.sigpic

A lot of BMW guys hate them for some reason, but I had a G35 Coupe for 5 years and it was absolutely bulletproof. Oil, brake pads, tires... that was it. It may not be as sporty as an E46 M3, but it's head and shoulders better than an IS300. I had JIC FLT-A2 coilovers, camber kit w/ race alignment and that made it handle pretty well. For power, 350Z intake, test pipes and a ECU remap. If you don't count the purchase price, I had way less money into it than my E30 and it was always a fun drive.
