    Dumb power steering fluid question.

My non-e30 car is sorta hard to turn the wheel.
I think it should be effortless but it's noticeable harder then most.

The fluid is sorta old. My question is if I flush it with some synthetic stuff
will it make it easier. Don't ask me why I think that but will it?

Is it because it's "old" ?

Nope. It's more likely because your pump is dead and your rack is leaking.

But it's not a bad idea to change the fluid every coupla years, because that helps
prevent the dead pump and the leaking rack.

    not optimistically.
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Nope. And it very well could expose some leaks.

Chances are it's the pump getting weaker.

        I see.
        Thanks.

It's a 2000 maxima and I car hear the pump wine on cold start backing
        out the driveway.

Common problem for the steering pumps on them. Just a matter of time until during cold days it will actually bump the steering wheel back against the way your turning it.
