A friend of mine is looking at turboing an m20 as he puts it in his 2002. I'm just curious if anyone here has any info or resources possibly? I've been able to find references to it being done, but no solid info on the internet. I'm primarily on here, and i know a few of you are into 2002's, so I thought I would ask here first.

What exactly do you need to know? If he already has the m20 in there it would be just like turbocharging an e30, wouldn't it? I mean there may be spacial concerns but I don't see there being too much difference. Now have fun making use of the newfound power. For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.

wobbie, the member with the teal e30, hasn't documented it anywhere that I know of. If anyone knows where it may be, we would appreciate it. I'm going to pm him to check as well.Last edited by 318isbmw; 09-11-2013, 10:04 AM.

There won't be much room. You can either let it hang down low, and scavenge the oil
with a separate pump, or wrap it around the top like many of the old M10s did.
I suspect you'll have to make the manifold, as the 2002 is several inches narrower,
and you'll have to give up flow in the interest of getting it to fit.
You'll also have a tough time getting around the idler pivot for the steering,
and the drag link. Getting the exhaust out won't be trivial, and may also
factor into your manifold design.
I think it's a mock- it- up and try it excercise. That's how I got the turbo onto the 122.
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

Thanks guys for the help, we've gotten a bunch of resources from here. I spoke with Wobbie a bit and he's been a big help. He's just running an ebay manifold, so we'll do the same. If it fits, great, if not, we'll fabricate one.
I wish we could go S54. I'm actually trading my 49k mile S54 for parts for this car, just can't justify the money put into an S54 swap to get it running for the power. The cool factor is through the roof though... I've always wanted one in my e30, but bought a house with my wife instead.
