e36 wheel fitment questions

hey guys i know this isnt an e30 question but would like yalls help..ive been looking for a set of wheels for my e36 but im not exactly sure what the specs are..i know theyr 5x120 but what i was wondering is what offset and width can i fit under there..ive been looking at diamond racing steelies in 16"x8 and was wondering would that be possible and another thing is they only have (-) offset so what offset would i need..thanks in advance

iirc e36 wheels have a high offset, Anything from 35mm to 45mm should work fine

very high offset. E46 wheels fit, but can rub a bit in the rear when you start running 8,5 wide.

so i would need wheels that are (+) right..example i would need a +35 offset or a -35 offset?

ET 35 translates to a negative 35mm offset, yeah. -35 to -45 mm.
In other words, the hub is pushed towards the outside of the car.

eh, not quite. -35 to -45 offset is going to be VERY aggressive. The lower the number the further the wheel sticks out. Unless I am reading your comment wrong (it is strangely worded). FYI ET and Offset are the same measurement, there is no translation between the two.
