Yea, that's really the only time I'd speak up.

We put this on my g/f's car specifically to piss off the purists. We even replaced the colors with three shades of woodgrain.

Yup. People need to take batter care of their car. You can usually get away with just a head replacement though. VAC even sells them on exchange for $1200.00

Zactly. We had a Z4 M coupe come in. Barely made it. It's cam bolts were finger tight. Vanos was destroyed. He cut it really, really close, but made it out with just a new vanos.

I tend to let the uneducated drive in bliss because I don't have the time to educate people and I am not exactly an encyclopedia of BMW knowledge. BUT, last year I was in Columbia SC and I went to look at a e36 m3 that a guy was selling. The pics on craigslist were crap but even then it looked off. When I got there I saw that it was not a M3 before I even got out of my car. It turned out to be a 318is with rep wheels and some spray painted interior bits. When I broke the news to this guy he was genuinely upset. He paid M3 money for the car when he bought it because the PO sold him on the fact that it was a "Real M3". I went through and showed him the parts that the car did not have trying to educate him, mainly I felt truly sorry for him.

Only to those who are actually into the cars. Johnny D-bag who just like to cruise by BWW on Friday nights doesn't care to know. He just knows mommy bought him an M3 so he's hot stuff.

This is true, unless the car is SMG and truly ratted out.....as is this one. Totally scrap material.

I'd ask for parts but the only thing I need is a motor and SMG = do not want. :(

                            yep, scrap heap unfortunately..

Funny, after reading this thread on my way home from work there's a regular E60 with huge ugly rims and an M5 badge in the trunk sitting on a jack off the highway.
