Toyota has been trying to get into nascar for quite a while now, and nascar is just now starting to let them compete. at first they would only let them race in Japan, then only trucks, and now they will let them race cars aperently.
poeple are all pissed because they are not an "american" car company, so they shouldn't be alowed to race. We get alot of NASCAR fans down here in kansas and I've overheard alot of people bitching about it in bars.

the best shit is that the next car body ford is using is the Ford fusion, which is based on a Mazda platform.
There are 2 motors they are required to use in nascar. I was told this by a guy with a mullet so it has to be fact. Its like a chinaman telling you about math.

not according to this guy, http://motorsportsforum.com/contents...4&postid=10127

TRD will design, develop, and build the Craftsman Truck Tundra V8 to NASCAR specifications in its Costa Mesa, Calif., facility.
and he's writing about NASCAR trucks...so i'm sure he has a mullet.

On the NASCAR topic: I have to respect the sport, because it involves loud, obnoxious, fast cars, and the fact that they're all the same makes it all about the driver. Sort of.

There really isn't a whole lot of skill involved in racing NASCAR (in comparison to other racing venues). Tony Stewart is a perfect example. When he stepped into NASCAR, it was a walk in the park. I watched him race in Loudon and he was barely trying. Granted, he didn't win in the last few laps, but he led most of them. He made it look easy. Why? Because he's a better driver ;)

In any case, if you go to a race and get the full experience (pit passes, etc) it really is an amazing experience. I recommend it to anyone with gas in their blood.

In theory. Nowadays though, its gotten just like other popular motorsports (or all pro sports for that matter, F1 especially), whoever spends the most tends to win the most.

              That sucks.

Yes, there are two motors, both are 358 Ci pushrod V8s though.

The truck series engine is a 9.5:1 compression ratio with a 350cfm carb with ram air induction and a roller cam. The cup series engine is 12:1 with a 750 carb, cowl induction and flat cams.

                  WTF?

Tell that to the thousands working at Toyota in Georgetwon, Ky. The Ford jobs in Louisville are still there. And now, there are a ton more people making a decent wage. Add to that the supplier companies that have located here and I fail to see your point.

The GM and Ford jobs are going away because they have an inferior product.

I am sure that the Nissan people in TN/Miss will tell you the same.

One that houses 70% of the Nascar teams, has an industrial wind tunnel used primarily for Nascar testing, and has a huge chunk of its technology economy tied to the series.
