    E30 crush

I remember watching a dtm race from the 80's i was only 6 when i was crazy about e30s more than the f40 or the diablo...as years passed i kept looking at them,as technology has improved,i keep looking at them, owned one for couple of months omg...my question is what made you fall for e30s?

i was raised around everything from E12 and up, specially dads e30 and e...something older 5 series and my uncle e34 m5 which now has 495k miles and runs like a new beast. all bmw parts and maintenance is cheap, their quality is great. the whole country(lebanon) was driven by benz, vw and BMW. people love them.

I remember seeing a blue E30 touring once, and after that I never looked back.
      I've since had 4 E30's, one E28 and 2 E34's.
Still own one E34, one E30, and the E28, and I've developed quite a passion for the AC Schnitzer parts.

My dad had a few growing up, and used to race specE30. When I was looking for a first car, I found a mint 325ix, kept looking and found my current 325is from one of his old spec buddies. Best little cars ever.

when i was in college, i had a roommate from spain(canary islands) his father drove an 86 320i. we used to go to the local bmw dealership(in kalamazoo, mi) dressed up in kaki's, a dress shirt, and tie to test drive the 90 and 91 models. they probably knew we were poor college students but they always let us take out whatever car we wanted. i can say that i have had the honor of driving a new m3, an ix, a cabrio, and several coupes.

my dream at that time was to build a car that combined the best of all the models. ie: an awd m3 cabrio.(my project in the works)

Originally grew around VW's, and couldn't find a decent mk2 gti/gli when I was 17. So instead I found a minty 318is and i fell in love. Will be back in one soon hopefully.

My E46 got me into BMWs hardcore. I was a huge proponent of American muscle before then. One day I took a ride in my friends mildly modded 87 325is and I was SOLD.
So much more pure. Nothing between you and the road.

I still love American muscle and brute power, but I want something that will also tear up the twisties, hence my 5.0 E30 project. (The 5.0 with aluminum heads weighs only a little more than an m20 so handling will be retained)

I had this when I was in the 1st grade:

                1983 baur 323i

it was my favorite toy car. I was into E30s and I didn't even know it. :p

I still have it, and a soft spot for Baurs...

I grew up in Astoria and all you would see is all the Greeks and Italians whip around in BMW, Benz and Jags. I always grew up wanting BMW, but always loved the boxiness of the E30.

In the 80s and 90s I despised BMWs, and especially the yuppymobile e30, though I always did like the style of e28s.
Then in 2001, I drove an e36, and I realized the ultimate driving machine ads were not a load of crap. After taking my 2002 GTI to my first track event, I started looking for a track worthy car... I drove my first e30 (325i with a LSD) in 2006, and that was the end. Since then, the driving joy has blossomed into a chassis obsession, and appreciation for the useful 3 box form. I have bought about 20 different chassis in my life, 2 were 240z, and all of the last five have been e30s.

Bought my first e30 in high school and it was a POS. I worked on it every weekend it felt like. But I learned tons because of it and realized I had a passion for BMW's because of it. The community is great as well and was super helpful which made it all that much more fun.

The day I was born, I came home from the hospital in the back of a black on black, 1991 325i coupe.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

My sister in-law had an 89 325is in I believe either Zinno or Brilliantrot in the late 90's. As a kid I really liked the car, but never thought too much of it. My brother had it imported to Germany when he was in the military and ended up totaling it on the Autobahn.

Never thought too much of it after, Always wanted a Z32TT or a GC RS Subaru (Which will be my next car) and then picked up my first copy of PBMW back in high school. At the time I didn't really know a Bimmer from a Barabus and wanted to know more about the brand and potential. I was already into Audi at the time but after that first issue the E30 really began to strike me.

                              It was between this car:

                              And this car:

Keep in mind my tastes have changed, but back at the time this car looked top.
