My E30 has been my first auto car, I'm desperately trying to collect the gear to do the 5 speed swap. All I have is the pedals so far, sad day.

My DD is a step worse than auto... it's a CVT. It's actively aggressively horrible bad AND nasty.

Weekends April to November I drive an E30 5 speed with manual windows, sunroof, door-locks, seats, antenna, etc. Nothing happens until I tell it to, and I like that but can't be bothered when I'm slogging to and from work.
never rode in one but doesn't Nissan advertise its seamless shifting? almost similar to driving an electric car

arguments for an auto trans are some sort of injury that makes shifting painful, driving almost exclusively in stop-and-go traffic, or advancing age.

My main e30 is a 5spd. I do have two others that are autos and I honestly love cruising in them! I think they make for great stock dailys. There are plenty of times when I'm driving them that I wish they were stick but it's kinda nice driving an auto every now and then

That's not your typical e30 or auto.

I prefer the manual transmission for a few reasons. First, I feel much more in control of what's going on, which I appreciate. Second, I'm able to drive however I want; I can short shift for economy or I can hold a lower gear for fun times, and the gearbox always knows which I'm shooting for. Third, I get super bored in an auto-trans car. The best I can do to keep interested is left-foot brake, but it's still not worth it.

My only arguments for an auto trans are some sort of injury that makes shifting painful, driving almost exclusively in stop-and-go traffic, or advancing age.

    Win-win-win-win. With happy ending.
I don't need a manual for that in my Jeep........it has enough vibration to compensate......Auto FTW offroad....

    my car was originally automatic

yeah, no thanks. I don't even like driving automatics in traffic, they bug the crap out of me.
