How Does This Community Feel About The New Direction Of BMW ?

I hate the idea, but BMW has been ignoring the enthusiests for nearly a decade now. I beleive it was the editor of Roundel even said once 'who do you expect to purchase these cars used & out of warranty, they don't hold their value, and are no longer cars that will be considered historic or classics'.

I mean, isn't that perfect for the enthusiast? In 10 years I'd love to purchase a 228i and boost the hell out of it. Or a E90 and swap some kinda monster V8 in it. Who ever said value holding was the gold standard of worthiness?

BTW, no one gave a rats ass about E30s 15 years ago. They werent considered historic or classics either. They were old yuppie mobiles. I personally look forward to the future. Look at what M-Tech is for e28s and e30s. Now look at M Performance http://www.bmwMperformance.com. There will be great availability to make a really base 328i into something much nicer.

I remember driving my ex's e90 when they first came out way before I bought my first e30. It was nice, bit bulky and sluggish in comparison I felt. Visually I thought it was really appealing, if I had the dough I'd buy one for myself but thats for sure. Compared to the e36/46 blah blah blah... I think a black e90 coupe is still a very slick car.

If you asked me 5 years ago I'd be saying the same things here as everyone else. Now that I see it from the corporate perspective and the enthusiast perspective it's quite different. Don't get me wrong, there are models in our lineup *cough*GT*cough* that I could do without. But we also have a lot of fun cars that are very worth driving.

Just drove an M6 Gran Coupe in Manual. Who the hell else would make such a crazy ass car in manual still? BMW, that's who.

You all are fucking idiots. How many of you have spent a decent amount of time in new BMWs. They are amazing yes they don't feel like an e30 but they are better then any other car on the road. They all still drive like a BMW should. Ever thrown a x5 or 750li into a corner they stick like you wouldn't believe. It honestly scary what you can do in such a big car. Quit pounding away on a keyboard until you have spent some time in a new BMW.

My issue isn't so much with BMW's direction, but the general trend toward forsaking visibility in exchange for outward appearances. I prefer the visibility I have when sitting in an older car.
