Aftermarket Sway Bars > e30 > yes or no?

Anyone running aftermarket sways, I heard that if you have the right springs and struts/shocks you really don't need them, btw I'm on eibach pro kit with Tokicos, I know Tokicos aren't the best but that's what the car came with and they're fine for now, any suggestions, I'm an e30 noob. Thanks

    Yes, absolutely.

Ever looked under your car? Your rear sway looks like a piece of licorice.

Common philosophy: sway bars are more for suspension tuning. Stiff enough springs do not require the additional of aftermarket sways. Or so people have told me.

Randy walters helped inform me on E3S. My springs are stiff enough I don't experience body roll. Sway bars are more for softer rates, and tuning the suspension to have the car handle the way you want it.

If you can take corners at speed and stay pretty level, you're probably fine.

my buddy has a honda hatchback with a type-r motor, and he doesn't even have sway-bars as they are an option on that car. He has a full coilover setup which yeilds NO bodyroll what-so-ever.

        stiff springs don't need bars...

There's always some degree of body roll and everyone has their own idea of 'stiff'. The standard 325 front bar which ties to the control arms is not small but isn't stiff enough because of where it ties to so a bigger bar is needed on a 325 than on an M3. The rear bar is just too small. I have H&R Race (315/580) springs, bilstein sports, rear poly GC mounts and ST swaybars on my M3 and feel the suspension is just about perfect for the street/track. The bars were all i needed to virtually eliminate body roll. The ST's were cheap and came with poly bushings and reinforcements which I later welded in. Not as adjustable as other kits but I don't mind. With that said, I think it's better to go with larger sways but not oversized sways like IE bars. If you need to go that much bigger then upgrade springs/shocks.
