    Dealer bullshit

My friend got a 2003 elipse (against my best advice) from a Kia dealer, which put a sort of textured dealership logo on his trunk. It didn't bother him then, but it's started to wear on him. Any advice on how to get that stuff off? Could he take it back to the dealership and they would do it?

I'd take it to the dealership first. If that doesn't work then I'd give the friendly people at Griot's Garage a call and see what they would recommend for removal.

Have you tried wd-40 & waxing it after? I'm sure the dealer will be of no help.

Once when we went to buy a car, they put that sticker on after we had test drvien it, but before we finished the paperwork. While waiting on some loan documents, I went back out for a last look over and saw it. I demanded they remove it immediately - the salesman actually tried to tell me that it was in my contract that I agreed to allow them to put it on.

Suffice it to say, we tore up that contract and did not buy that car. Some dealers will put those cheap ass license plate frames on your car whenever you take it in for service.

He was begging bigtime for me to reconsider. Called me the next couple of days - said he had the thing taken off, offered me - gasp - a free oil change!

Use a hair dryer and WD-40... not the spray stuff, the stuff you can buy in the square can from your hardware store. Alternate soaking it in WD40 and heating it with the hair dryer, and scrape with a plastic card. After some work it will come off, then use a good wax to protect the paint.

"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
