Take a break from the E30, come back in a couple weeks and take the $2k you were going to use on buying something else and fix the things that are wrong/bad on your E30.

Water ALWAYS gets in the trunk, as long as the drains are fine, it shouldn't be a worry; if your drains are clogged and they are pooling, it'll take like 5 minutes to unclog them and $40 for new trunk weatherstripping.
All these "little annoyances" are natural in a car this old.
I crashed my car a month ago: I'm pulling the frame, pulling the engine to replace mounts/oil pan, doing a timing belt/water-pump job, full cooling replace, full A/C overhaul, and replacing my squeaking sway bar mounts while sandblasting and powder-coating the new bars I'm replacing the old ones with all while ~20-30 outside.
Granted you may have a family and don't have as much time as I do (an even THEN, I don't exactly have a lot of time myself), but if can't muster up enough will to get to steppin; not to be a douche: but maybe you should just sell the e30 and buy a DSM.
Well good for you for working hard on your e30. You are obviously a much more motivated person than I am who deserves all the praise in the world for your ability to fix your car in any weather condition. I envy you.
I think I will go buy a DSM. Secretly I think they're the best cars ever made and the only reason I started this thread was the hope that somebody would agree with me and justify my absolute desire to get one. I mean, I knew all along that, mechanically, they're piles of junk that lazy people drive, so this thread was a complete waste of your time. Sorry. And ST1G is right, that is exactly the mental image I have.
I've got three e30s that all require countless hours of work, and I think I will sell all of them now and buy three Eclipses. I am a DSM fan for life. Actually, I won't sell my e30s, I'll just drop them off at my local junkyard with a note reading "I'm a DSM fan now. Please crush these. I'm too lazy to fix 'em."
