here she is.. i am just about 90 percent sure, no 930.. i found several pictures of 939 cabrios.. thats the closest thing i can come to though.

notice the headlights in the front bumper, not built into the fenders, and the targa top.
We sold this car a long time ago, and its spotty as to what i remember about it.

              not exactly...

RUF changes the cars enough to be considered a manufactuer in germany they basically completely rebuild them... RUF is to porsche what Carlsson is to Mercedes or Hartge is to BMW... AMG is more the equivelent of what //M is to bmw

Ruf is the last name of the owner Alois. They buy bare shells (usually white) from Porsche and build them up from there. A lot of Porsche parts ARE used.

It's is strange and very hard to explain, but a Ruf is NOT a Porsche. At the same time it is the ultimate Porsche. Guess you just have to grow up with them to understand.

The Yellow Bird, as it was called, was a Ruf CTR and was built in 1987. The R&T article was done in 1989 (I think I still have it somewhere.) The new car they were shipping for the R&T test was delayed or damaged in shipping and the owner of the "Yellow Bird" lived in the US I believe. They shipped it out for the test as a last resort. It had been previously abused for several 10's of thousands of miles if I recall correctly.

It recorded the fastest top speed of all the cars in that test at 211mph. The car, after that article, has become a Porsche/Ruf legend.

Interesting notes I remember from the article:
It broke traction switching gears at 150 or 160 mph.
Ruf didn't build cars with sunroofs because they tended to get sucked right out of the car over 200mph.
The car he intended to bring was more powerful, but probably wouldn't have gone as fast because it was a "widebody" and created much more drag.

The track it is on in the video is the Nurburgring. You are allowed to drive around it like any other european road. I think they charge a small fee or something per lap. A lap is 14+ miles long. Anyways, that is the reason for he's not wearing a helmet. I'm guessing he's only wearing socks so he can "feel" the pedals better. He obviously knows the track and car quite well. I have never heard that he wrecked it twice trying to make that video. I also doubt he actually did wreck it. Wreck a set or 2 of rear tires? Yes, definitely. :D
