UNHCLL - My comment was based on PtownTSI's taking the disassembly lightly.
For someone that has not worked with M3s before, it can be an expensive learning proposition. We broke the second one we took out because we "thought" we knew the "easy/quick" way. It was the same car - track cone hit it!

I vote please don't part it out. Give the tip to somebody who actually has the time and money to treat her right. But one less e30 M3 in existence is not something we need.

I wasn't going to say anything in this thread until I read that.

If the S14 is bad, you can always go the Alpina B6-3.5S route!

LMAO i just wanted to see you guys get your panties in a twist. i'd never ruin an M3 by putting that heap of trash in one.

                      gotcha!

The m42 is a good motor, all things considered. Calling it a heap of trash makes you look like more of an idiot. That being said, I still wouldn't want one in an m3.

So are you saying a non-professional couldnt rebuild an s14?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

compared to something as highly engineered as an s14 yes an m42 is junk.

Your statement is a bit ignorant as you fail to consider the original design purpose. The m42 wasn't exactly built to win races. The m42 is reliable to 250k+ miles, gets great gas mileage, makes ok power, and is rather inexpensive to maintain. Doesn't sound like junk to me...
