Just a couple of questions

hi so its my second post btw but i got a couple of questions how do you clean the engine bay the gunk on the enginge valve cover seems really tough to get off i wish my engine bay could look better and another thing is i hate my instrument panal(motometer) the only working things on it are the temperature thank God and the gas lights orange once its like almost empty which is better then nothing and i still dont know what my car year is or if i got a m10 or m40 haha but its 1.8L oh yeah and what it is this panal above the rear view mirror mean

above the rear view mirror is the check panel where you can check (with the button on the bottom right) the status of things like your rear lights, brake lights, etc.
