:o
That is a good point but I am sure there is something out there that could conceivably do it. For a while we were using textpresso (biology related) to pull specific data from scientific paper and dump it in rudimentary tables, it was far from perfect and then we collectively broke ours trying to perfect it. I blame the cocky use of the dictionary in academic journals for breaking it ... we walked away from it for now lol
anyways, what about exporting into google docs? I see on the features list you can export but to what format ?
How do you expect to generate revenue? Seeing as how it isnt exactly personal data maybe the data (upcoming maintenance or wish list of parts) could be shared (limited data or close to anonymously) with vendors on the forum to provide the end user a discount (like a bulk parts discount), you take a small cut, vendors increase sales. I can also see this helping out vendors in keeping track of special discounts threads I see in the vendors section.
Who knows... there are lots of ways to make money off this without a subscription fee and more than likely better ways of making money off your project that dont involve my ramblings.
My don't quote me list:

At this stage we will not support text messages/emails to different numbers for every vehicle you have in the system.
You can sign them up yourself for every account (PM me, I will get back to you after we start sending out invites so you can by-pass the process for additional accounts).
The reason for this is to mostly prevent a business from using this application to manage their customers.

P.S You can use our website on your phone and desktop. I build it to work on all of the devices.

Thanks! I worked with Alldata, it's pretty useful. We allow you to do everything Alldata can do but with your own twist (and bunch of other cool things).

Yeah I guess another part of it is that I don't have resources to tackle everything, I figured I want to launch this and get people to actually use it and then collect feedback and see what users want the most.
Then start working on stuff in order of want -> kinda want -> would maybe want, etc.
You can export to print (printer friendly format for all data associated with service) or to forum (with proper forum markup). I already have doc export on the to-do list :D
Revenue wise, I don't want to make any money off personal users. I could leverage some of the data if somebody really want to work with me and actually offer a benefit to the users (oh you have tire change coming up for the car? tirerack will give you $100 off, etc).
My focus will be on personal platform and expand to commercial platform that shops use to manage vehicles.
And this might sound crazy but I also was thinking of 'FourSquare' like functionality.. if your mechanic uses this platform you can 'check-in' your car and they can view all the stuff other mechanics did, stuff you did, stuff that might need attention really soon.
I personally think something like that would be super cool, but again I need to focus on the first step and make sure it's what people want to use.
