Am I crazy to buy back my old 325ix for $3k+ more then I sold it for in 09? The owner has taken very well care of the car and has finished some things that I never got around to. It is a very well sorted and a completely reliable beautiful IX. Tell me I'm not crazy so I can sleep at night.

Is it the one in your signature? And I fully agree on history, sure I could buy a clean body and swap everything over. But I LOVE my car, it is not the love someone else would share.

Yes it is the one in my sig. The current owner has gone through the awd, redid the seats, repaired trunk lock/license plate light rust issue, rear valance rust issue and a list of other things. I'd say its well worth the asking price. It was in great shape when I let it go and it's even better now. I'm going to pull the trigger on this.

Buying a car I previously owned would def take #1 priority before anything else out there. Sounds like a no brainer to me. An appreciating car, that you owned before, + additional items that were fixed seems like a recipe for a win.www.instagram.com/snwmble

We own e30s, definitely crazy.
That said and aside. If I was in your position, I'd do it in a heart beat, especially if I know the owner took care of it and actually and truly made it better than when I sold it.
$8K sounds like a steal to me. After what I paid for my e30 (not an ix) and all the work that i've done to it so far, restoring it... I probably overpaid for mine - inexperience on my part and impatience constantly seeing cars and finding complete POSes.
If you want a clean well taken care of e30 - you're going to have to start paying less than practical prices for it, especially an ix.
For the asking prices of these cars and the amount of work it takes to get them into reliable shape, much more modern cars can be purchased for equal or lesser money...
But hey, that's what it means to be an enthusiast and car person. Only other car people will understand it. Everyone else will see it as a waste of money. Whatever, money be damned - do what drives, moves, and stirs your soul - that's why we live life.
