    m54b30 worth?

So I'm thinking about buying a m54b30 short block and use the crank for a stroker build. The engine has 39k on it. I'm curious whether it would be worth picking up the short block for $500 and keep the crank and sell the pistons, rods, oil pan, oil pump, block etc. Or try and fine just the crank. I don''t know much about the m54 just that I want the 89.6mm crank. The owner says that its worth $1500 but I don't know. Are these extra parts a pita to sell/worth my time to disassemble and part out? Anyone know the going rates?

    Thoughts?

Find a good crank from a toast block. No use parting out a good motor that someone could use whole.

Added bonus, less to deal with which is very nice when you admittedly don't know the market for the parts.

Yup. AL blocks are trash once overheated, usually people just replace the whole thing vs tearing the whole thing down, time-certing/shaving the block and putting it all back together.

I kinda want the crank because of the low miles. If I can get maybe $300+ for the extra parts I think it would be worth it. Time to do some price research.

i paid 500 for the same thing. except mine was from a wrecked car missing a chunk of the lower block and the head was cracked. Sold the vanos for $100.

Im gonna use the crank rods and pistons for a 3.0 m50.
