    Rust help needed

I am going to look at a 1987-1988 325is tomorrow and need to know common rust spots. It already has rust under the tail lights and under the licience plate area. Any help will be wonderful and I'll post pics if I get it.

My main rule is always look under the car. On mine, it had no rust, but a large cut in the spare tire well. Look at the wheel arches, because those don't get washed out enough. The main places ive seen are behind the plates, under the tail lights, and near the trunk weatherstripping. (pull it up in places to make sure its still good.) I would also check the battery compartment and trunk area in general. I'm not super experienced with the E30s though, so someone else probably knows more than I do.

Battery compartment, on the outside, very noticeable.

Under the rockers, around the factory jack points too.

      Fender lips.

Rust on the battery tray is pretty common at least it was in florida.

            Good luck!

The seam where the inner fender well/strut mounting meets the firewall. Also, where the radiator/core support mounts to the body.

Thanks everyone for the advise, me and my dad went to look at it and we bought for a nice $500. The car had some decent rust but nothing to bad. Looks I have another project along with the other one.

$500 for just about any e30 these days is a deal, despite what you might read on here. Looks like a nice score.
