    E36 M3 good value?

Hopefully this is the right place to post. I found this M3 on craigslist and it seems like a great deal to me, considering everything is good with the car. Most of my research has been on e30s.

Is that a good price? I'm thinking about making the 5 hour drive tomorrow...

Seems like a good price for the mileage. Clean 325is in that mileage fetch 4500-5000.

Very nice....also as a bonus it's a '95/obd1, a future Euro S50/S52 swap will be much much easier. I say go for it, I still miss my '97.

the intake scares me a bit. i was driving with a buddy of mine in a heavy rainstorm. he had that intake on his car. we were driving really slowly through about 4" of water.(about 6mph) an oncoming pickup caused a wake that was high enough to suck water into the intake and hydrolock the engine right there on the spot. he bent 2 rods. the motor was trashed.

nice looking car though. probably won't last long at that price.

Those are TONS of car for the money. And around here, that would be a very good deal
on a well- maintained car. A beater, that's about what people ask....

6500 seems legit for that car! as previously mentioned these cars are a great bang for the buck. look closely and you will see that the OP put a lot into the car there is a Dinan intake and Michelin tires ect on it ..........he doesn't seem to be skimping on the maintenance. I hate it when people try to low ball. You get what you pay for and 6500 seems fair for a car such as this one. My $0.02.

e36 prices are all over the place. From $10k to $500.

First thing, is never post a link to a car you want to buy on a forum. If it's a killer deal, you just told a few thousand people to jump on it! That's no good.

Second. Do some more research. An M3 is going to cost a lot more to own than a non-M3. And if a e36 is a daily driver, it might not be worth it.

Also, e36 are now so old, that you really want to buy one from a 2nd or 3rd owner. buying on that has an ad that says "yo, I installed a chip and custom graphics and some ebay springs" means you're buying from someone that drove it hard.

This is not really true of E36 M3s. 17" tires and brakes are a bit more expensive and it drinks more gas, but it's just a 3 liter 325i other than that.

My bad guys. Kept coming back and seeing no response. The guy sold it right when I called for the asking price. There was another in the same condition for $9000. I've found another (97) M3 in my city for $6000 and I am setting up a test drive, but I'm a bit weary after hearing the many problems one may run into. I'm not that experienced of a mechanic, and don't know if I have the time, or tools, but I have a backup vehicle. People seem so torn as to wether they are reliable or not. One guy says I've done nothing but regular maintenance for 4 years and another has a power steering leak and gremlins etc.. E30s and e36s are the only cars that appeal to me ATM.
