Be a lines man and make 6 figures?

Today in my sociology class we had a Phoenix Police officer come in and talk (no cop/Lukas jokes guys). The officer made national headlines a few years ago when survived a car crash that left him badly disfigured.

Anyway, he mentioned before he became a cop he worked as a "lines man." He described the job as someone who works on lines at a different location each day and makes a "ridiculous" amount of money". He only had one year of college and a HS degree when he became a lines man.

Any idea what he was talking about? If I can make a "ridiculous" amount of money doing this, I'm game. I'm not looking to make a career out of it, but I'm looking for the best/fastest way to save up 5 figures so I can start buying properties as I want to start a Real Estate empire. I was thinking auto sales was the way to go, but I'm willing to look at other opportunities.

I think how people mentioned your charm and salesman appeal, auto sales would a good idea for you. And it'd give you experience with dealing with people and making the deal.

so I can start buying properties as I want to start a Real Estate empire
      E. Lukas hoping to be the next D. Trump! :D

One of my former managers worked security where they were paid to walk around a mall, scanning each doorway's barcode with their little thingy to show they were walking around. Supposedly he made good money doing so. I don't know what "walking the lines" is, but maybe is along the same idea. Like surveying a property and just being there to protect it, i dunno.

I don't think you really want to be a cop, not quite a great background for real estate investor, car salesmen much better. Unless you want experience using a night stick, so you can use one on your renters not making payments on time.

high voltage power lines, those ones waaaayyyy up high that cut a swath of earth for the towers that hold them.

Its hazard pay. You spend a lot of time hanging from a cherrypicker or a helo stand trying not to fuck up. You can either get cooked or fall to your death.

I know a guy that used to do that. He said that he could feel the electromagnetic fields before you synched up with the line (where you connected yourself too it so that you had the same polarity or something).
        Im now E30less.

......If you know what you are doing.

I know of several people who have made a fortune in real estate, and a few that have lost a fortune. To be successful, you have to know what to buy and when to buy it. What is even more important, you need to know what not to buy, and when not to buy it.

Seriously though, car salesman sounds much more appealing that deadly feats of the lines man!
