    She wrecked it

Sold my car a dew days ago as I posted earlier last week. Yesterday afternoon the girl I sold it to had a crx prevoke her into a race. It has been raining quite a bit down here these past few days and yesterday was one of the worst days. She tried launching from 3,000 rpms ....with the torque of the 3.0 and the high ratio (3.97) in the diff the car immediately swung out sideways and she slung the ass of the car into the crx. The damage was done to the rear passenger side. The door 1/4 panel and tail light are gone. The wheel is all scraped to hell too. Her parents are going to take the insurance money and buy her something else. Odds are I will try to buy it back from them. Family friends so I will prob be able to get it back cheap. My mom said she would loan me the $ seeing that that was my first car that she actually bought for me almost 4 years ago. She didn't want me to sale it. I sold it for 6, how much do you think I should try and get it back for? Looking on the bright side she took out one of the ciy's many ricers :D

No offense to your friends but that is retarded giving a heavily modded BMW to a young girl. Her inexperience would not dictate it. Its like at my school where people were giving thier kids 5.0s, M3s, and Camaro SSs. Its irresponsible, the kids all wrecked them, and they could have died.

        Id offer 2.
        Im now E30less.

How much did you sell it for? Simply pay them the amount the insurance company will deduct from their settlement check for the buy-back of the car...thats seems to be a very fair offer IMHO.

            Done this many times...

Insurance will come and total the car...
The owners will have the option of buying it back afterwards, generally 1/3 of pay off price.
Offer them to pay the buy back price plus a little extra (+/-3-500) for their hassle.
            Below the radar...

That blows! IT was such a nice car. When I bought a friends wrecked 325is that was in pristine cndition before the wreck they gave her 3600.00 for it and I paid the buy back of $265.00 to get the wreck. I have never heard of the 1/3 of value rule for buy back here in CA. See what the insurance offers them first and then base what you want to pay for it on that.
Just livin in the OC minus my E30

Forget that. Just let them collect and then you buy it from the insurance company through them. You dont owe them anything, it was the girls fault and she was the one who wrecked a car you setup.

$800!!!! I just got it back for 800 fucking dollars! It will be parked for a few days, but hey. I can deal. Yes the 3.0 M20 was in it. In her defense she is 18 and had a kia rio before. She has ridden with me a lot, and she saw how I drove and tried to mimic it from what she has told me. She of course did not give her parents the real story. She told them she barely got on it and it swung out.... O well they said it was too powerful for her to have. She loves E30s though. They are going to take her to look @ a 92 318ic tomorrow afternoon after she gets out of school. It's time to rebuild my baby. I'm thinking wide body kit. Anyone know of direct fender flare replacements? I was thinking the wide flares M3 side skirts GTS Front and Sedil rear bumper. Granted I can find the flares @ a reasonable price.

                    1) That is poor judgement on the parents part. I know if I had an 18 year old daughter who had just done something like this (attempting to race a civic) I would NOT be putting her in a convertible. No matter what engine was under the hood.
                    2) Congrats on getting back your car. Lets see some pictures of it? I dont recall what it looked like, I can host them for you if need be.
                    3) Blending in M3 flares will be an expensive task, but not knowing how damaged the 1/4 panels are, that might be a good option. I'd pass on the Seidl rear bumper. Especially if you choose to use the GTS front.

The passenger rear 1/4 is ruined the door is gone the wheel is scratched to hell. Her parents have no clue she was trying to race she told them she just left the line normally and it whipped out on her. I personally would start out in 2nr when it rains. Too much torque for 1st much less launching...dear god. I'll dig up the one pic I have on this comp of my baby. Put it on my aviator

                        aviator...

Score! I dont care how bad the car is you could part it out and drop the engine in another E30 and come out ahead. You really lucked out on this one, like my wreck. Take full advantage of it and never look back!
                        (need a headbang simley)

The shitty thing is I dont think I can part it out. I didn't realize how much sentimental value that thing had to me until I sold it. All I saw was "I'm getting another bike". Like 3 hours later I realized that 1000 cc bike is pointless in the city my old 600 would have held it to 80. And insurance is a bitch...I'm glad I have it back. I will def fix it. Might sale the bike and get crazy with body kit. So no one makes wide body kit for the 30 I take it?

Yes, there are widebody kits for the E30. The only problem is most of them look really rice. I saw one that was done well at bimmerfest last year. It had the M3 EVO fenders and then had rear M# fender wells done that were very tasteful. Just don't put an M3 badge on it

You posted a pic of your car doing a burnout right? It wasn't lowered and had 17" rims?

Real bummer about the acciden, but at least you have the car back...
