I'm with these guys... you start cutting and you're going to be taking out a lot more than you realize really quickly.

No offense OP, but consider that many people who are interested in buying an e30m3 are usually going to look for something a bit more pristine. If I was going to spend 15-20k+ on a vintage car, it wouldn't be one that seemed a bit neglected. I'd be surprised if you get more than 10k. You didn't post a lot of information, but what about records and documentation? You're not even sure that it was repainted, or when, right?

edit: I'm not extremely well versed in the m3 market lately--perhaps 12-13 is more realistic than I imagine.

It's at minimum a $13-$15k car. It's a running, driving, no issue car that needs body work.

Hell, the car in parts is worth more then $12k

Two different buyers for this car.

If you want a quick sale, and sell to anyone, 97% of people will pay $8,500 for that car. Even if they had to borrow thousands of dollars and are given no history. That's the lowest end of the market if it was advertised with a pic or two on craigslist.

On the other hand, if advertised and marketed correctly, you could easily sell this for 14-15k as is.

Not feeling the $15k without weld repair. $12k seems about right. The S14 is there but is not refreshed. Put $10k in and I'd say it's worth $19-$22k. That's why I say $12k tops

                      1. Keep it in the condition it is.
                      2. Drive it everyday like you stole it.

Personally I would love for a low end m3 with a mechanically sound s14. That way I wouldn't feel bad about beating on it like a red headed stepchild.

That being said there is a shell being offered in the classifieds here for just shy of 5K and it has no seat bulkhead.

That is exactly what I would have said. I've seen rolling chassis go for upwards of $10k and don't S14's go for way more than $5k?

A colorado car recently sold on ebay for $16k. It was around 160k miles, running/driving alpine/cardinal w/ rust. There was a hole in the rear wheelwell that looked like you could stick a fist through, though it wasn't in the lower rocker area like yours. Rust repair can get expensive depending on where it is. Mine had sunroof drain area/firewall repair done and it was an easy $3k.

this right here. Anyone saying less than 12K has no idea what the REAL market is at.
