Still, I'm willing to give it a shot if there are people interested, and as long as they work out the details with the shipping and such. I have some free time to kill on weekends, like the community here which has been immensely helpful through all my e30 time, and could use a little pocket money on the side. Plus my boss has a trailer I can rent (for free?), so if anyone is actually genuinely interested in pulling this, I'm open to PMs.

Btw, saw a couple of IX Tourings around myself ;)
Don't get me wrong, wasn't a stab at you. I looked into the same type of arrangement almost a decade ago (which dates me...) but after consulting with some folks who had much more experience, basically came to the conclusion that it would have to be done on a case-by-case basis. Good luck!

People just want tourings here because they can't have them. If they were everywhere, like in Europe, people would give two shytes about them. If you have a huge boner for a touring, you might have better luck searching Canada for one. You never know, some little old lady could be sitting on one, driving it 1000 km/year.

^This is the key point. There is 40,000 people on R3v that would claim that they would buy one, then won't when it's crunch time.

I totally want one, but I don't have $5000. Fuckin' reality...:???:

I've had friends ship over tourings and it doesn't cost 4k. Its usually a little over 2k.

Americans looking for a touring should search in Canada rather than Europe. BC and Ontario are the provinces with the most available. Do your import homework for the state you live in. Be prepared to search hard, and travel with cash at a moments notice to score a deal.

As far as setting up a business specifically for tourings, I'm not sure the margins would make it worth the time and potential headaches (at least for me).

There's a lot of love and interest for the e30 touring, but I question the actual firm, committed buying market for an e30 touring in North America. When the rubber hits the container, most wouldn't or can't drop the coin required to actually buy - the price is too great compared to a readily available sedan.

The issue is that the only people who think a stanced touring is cool are the same people who complain about how expensive chinese parts are. Good luck finding someone to shell out, most reasoanable people with 10k to spend on a station wagon are going to get say, an E46 wagon with 1/3 the mileage and not rusted/beat to shit. Good luck if you decide to pursue, but there is no sense creating a supply for a market that has dreamer demand.
