It's a clone of the GR1 concept that Ford did.

this new saab was more or less 'inspired' by the old saab sonnet; there are some real hardcore sonnet nuts out there... they had fiberglass bodies (the equivalent of carbon fiber today, I guess) and teeny triumph or ford V4 engines.



I had a pair of saabs as my first real cars... they were interesting in the 70s/early 80s as more or less 'critiques' of same-period BMWs: bigger, more practical/economical, mostly hatchbacks, front wheel drive, safer, fuel-injected (bosch K jetronic I think)... they have the most incredible havc systems for the period...

the copywriting for the original 900 turbo was to the effect of:
'why waste power hauling a bigger engine around' ...which was sort of a jab at the 325...

having said that, they are neat cars that drive great in the snow, but are sorta boring otherwise... a critique only gets you so far
