      A big 6, or maybe a Bavaria.

An e28 is definitely more of a cruiser. I loved mine, definitely would have been better with a s52.

I personally don't think e30s are good cruisers since they have so much road feel. Sometimes it's nice to drive something that soaks up the bumps more.

I'm gonna have to say e28 as well. Larger, heavier, more cruise worthy. Plus as I saw mentioned earlier, you don't see many e28 S52 swaps. A touring would definitely be cool, and I love cruising in my e30, but something a bit bigger is what comes to mind when I think cruiser.

Even a sedan e30 isnt much of a cruiser imo. Can't sit in front with your arm out the window without stabbing your pits with the door lock.

I vote E34 touring. I love mine. Makes a great cruiser, tons of space and with an S52, would be pretty quick.

Well as much as I want another e28 I'm going to go with another e30 touring.
e28's are too rare and pricey over here.
                I'll actually look into e34's

                  Definately not the case.

the touring is the same wheelbase, I park next to a 4 door and coupe everyday.

If I were in your shoes e28 all the way. I think a euro bumper s52 e28 would fetch a lofty sum stateside in a few years and give you the cruising you desire,,,, or the e30 touring. My e34 touring was great but if I were in the hinterlands I would build a car you can't find here stateside espc if I were going to bring it back home.
