I quit. I'm trying to make a roof rack and my own mounts and it's being a pain in the ass. Fuck. You're too good at this game.

I'm working on basically redesigning everything. Now that I've gotten a ton of feedback, I have a better idea of what people are interested in. I'd like to make these more simple for several reasons, as well as make them more affordable. I will post back within the next few weeks to show my newest designs. Stay posted.

Also, I didn't realize I had these pictures on my phone, here is an idea of what the clamping solution is. This is from my very first mount prototype so they look different but the angled tab with threaded stud mounts the same. This clamps the mount down to the drip rail rather than up against the drip rail:

So are the open bars there to allow a clamp to attach to the rain gutter? Just wondering how these secure to the car.

Look into powder coating for rust prevention. I'd do it for you, but I'm up in SF.

You should consider making a variation that doesn't lay on top of/touch the roof of the car. One could vent the sun roof a bit and not have to worry about scratching or perhaps dents.
