First of all be glad they will throw them both out if you provide the proof. My wife got a ticket for no front plate and I had to pay $120, even though I put the plate back on. In fact they never even asked if I put it on, they didn't care, just wanted their money.

On the proof of insurance ticket, I can't believe you of all people would get nailed for that. If I'd been through what you did I'd have 10 copies of that in my car, one in my billfold, one in my sock and one stuffed in my buttcrack just for that really nice cop. Be glad you don't live here, if you get pulled over for no proof of insurance they tow your car on the spot, whether or not you have insurance. Then you have to provide proof to get the car back.

In Cali after January 1st of 2004 its up to the pig to make it a $10 fix-it ticket or an actual infraction (no points, of course).

Little update, I had my court date today. I put the state plate back on, the bailif came out and looked at it with me and they also checked my current insurance, and sent me on my merry little way. No fines, no court fees.

There was another kid there who it was his second ticket for a euro plate, and they did the same thing, on his second offense.

Thanks. Of course, I'm putting it back on. No way I'm going to let the MAN keep my from sporting your fine product, Tyler. :D

The other kid that got away with his told me that when the cop got him for it this second time, he even told him that all he would have to do is put the state plate back on, and they would let him off. He told him that it's just a fix-it type of thing anyway, and that people that he tickets for not displaying a front plate at all never get stuck with the fine, as long as they show up in court with the state plate on.

We don't have any sales tax, either. They keep trying to pass one, but it'll never happen. We have higher income taxes, but I'd still rather pay for something what the price tag reads. I love Oregon, I don't even plan on moving. Shitloads of beautiful forest, clean air, Pacific Northwest scenery, a beautiful coastline, mountains, etc... perfect.
