I am bummed out to hear such news. Such a special and rare E30 too. What a jerk ass driver! They will never know the sheer trouble you most likely went through to obtain such a unique car. Damn!

Worst thing is the guy ran away from the scene. Good thing I got his license plate and had witnesses that stopped and offered to wait for the police with me.

          Those are not Recaro seats.

Recaro or not. They are sport seats.

FYI. It's going to be auctioned on Wednesday. I'm really interested to see how much they'll sell it for.

Hope it won't go to a dismantler...

Looks like they sold it for $3750.

                  Anyone here got it?

I'm confused as to why you didn't go after the insurance company? I have declared value on mine (02/88) with a laundry list of documentation involving the import of the car. No way in hell I'd let one slip out of my hands and not be replaced after an accident.

The policy I have written will replace the vehicle including importation/transportation fee's if a replacement cannot be found in North America.

Sounds like you needed to back the documentation up more.. Sad to go it go to auction, hopefully someone fixes it.

They paid me decent money for it. Nowhere close to what I had invested into it but I don't think you can ever recover money invested in a restoration project.

They offered me to keep it for $3K and I decided to let it go. I'm in a situation right now where I just don't have the necessary time to dedicate to fix it. Had that happened two years ago, it would've been a whole different story. It was my family's daily driver and I needed to replace it right away.
