Pulling stand up jet skis with my ix

What's up guys? So today I'm going to look at 3 Kawasaki jet skis a 750sxi, 550js and a 650sx with a two ski trailer. Guy is calming that the 750 and 650 only need battery's and there good to go (yeah right) the 550 is apparently in peices.

I'm planning on buying anything today just gonna get out there feel the seller out and check out the condition of everything.

My questions for you guys is which trailer hitch would any one recommend? Is there an ix specific hitch? Can I put the 550js on my roof rack?

Also if any one know anything about Kawasaki jet skis or any thing about stand ups in general please chime in. Also if any one knows a good forum to check out for these guys that would really help out. I've always wanted to grab one of these and I'm finally in a position were I can have one... Or two.... three. (I gotta stop collecting shit)

Here's the do posting so u can see what I'm talking about.

US hitches are all pretty much the same. They bolt to the sheet metal of the spare tire well and/or the bumper if you have an early model. Euro hitches are a bit more stout IMO and bolt to the frame rails. Here is a source for a euro hitch:

My rule of thumb for what to put on a roof rack is if I can lift the object up there myself (or at least pick it up), it can go up there. Anything heavier and you could have issues.

IMO, if you're going to get a hitch, get the euro. They can handle more weight. And the whole bolting to a structural part of the car is great peace of mind.

As for roof rack. Depends on a lot of factors. I'd do it. But that's because my E30 is much more utility truck and not a purdy queen, and If I'm going to do it it's going to be a beefy rack of my own design.

I had one of those US hitches, I sold it - the tire well isn't a structural member, and I didn't want to drill holes down there to install it.

I ride my stand up skis just about twice a week. Don't put a 550 on top of your car, that's stupid.

I don't use to my e30 to pull anything and I never will, only because I have a wagon to do that. But a buddy of mine was pulling his kawi on a single slot trailer just fine, the 550 is a light ski. The 750 will be considerably heavier, probably ~270 lbs maybe so take that in mind. The xi will easily pull a trailer with a ski on, but idk how it would do with two skis plus the weight of the trailer, but with AWD probably not bad. It would be good to get a hitch that bolts to a more solid location, like the frame rails as mentioned earlier

I could ask my buddy what hitch he has on his car if you'd like, cause I don't remember

Awesome I love seeing pics of an e30 pulling skis it makes me feel like the lil guy loves it. Just for the record I wasn't actually planning on putting a ski on my rack. I tryed to post a pic of one with one on there but it's hard to do on my phone.

Another thing is you'll want some upgraded shocks if you're pulling with the e30 if you don't already. Like bilstein heavy duty's
