    Noticed something strange...

I picked up a 1987 325is just before Xmas an put it in storage the day I got it. Didn't even really get a chance to give it a good look over. I knew the owner and he offered it to me at a decent price since he knew I liked e30s.

I took it out of storage today and started figuring out everything I need to do. I knew when I bought it there was some rust, but that is being addressed next week(car is going interlagos blue).

    Here it is:

When I got in the car the check light came on and it said my license plate lights were out. I went to the back of the car and noticed.....no license plate lights. WTF. I guess a previous owner deleted them? They are mandatory where I lie so I guess I need to find another solution? Any suggestions?

The license plate lights live above the trunk lock. I can't tell anything from the pictures (ever heard of resizing for posting?), but I'll bet the lights are still there and that the bulbs are burnt out.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

          Sorry

I posted on my phone, using pics I took on my phone so I don't know how to resize them.

There doesn't seem to be any lights above the trunk lock.

If for some reason the bulbs aren't there, you could always use something like this.

Looks like a pretty solid starting base. Decent pick up.

What is interesting is that it has an early front bumper and a late rear bumper.

Very good looking car, I'd say this was a good score.

Lovely front bumper trim. The molecules are really nicely arranged.

Thats an MTech II read bumper with a color matched early Diving Board bumper. The rear MTech II is probably a replica made of fiberglass. If its OEM then it will have part numbers burned into the ABS that designate it as an authentic OEM manufactured part.

If you take it off at some point and determine it is OEM then you scored! Very costly rear bumper assembly as they are getting to be close to Unicorn status. Thats why one typically finds that it is a replica.

Also for the rear plate lights one can use Lite N Bolts. I use them on some of my vehicles and rather than the ones posted up top that are black I think the Billet Aluminum which is more sillver colored would be a better choice.

Here is a link to a current auction for the ones I have used in the past.

                          Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Yeah, aside from a little rust, which is being addressed ASAP with the colour change, I'm hoping it wont be too much of a money pit....
